After 2 days at the dealership they have determined that the UK ID4 First Edition does not have the convenience reverse dipping mirror functionality. This is disappointing as the functionality helps prevent wheel damage when parallel parking.
They have checked all their other stock ID4’s and confirmed that the PR build does not include this option.

Is it clear if this is available on any trim?

I would like to buy an ID.4 and I was comparing the 1st Edition to the 'Style' 55 kWh model and the 'Max' 82 kWh model and neither of those mention reverse dipping functionality?!

Unsure, the dealer only checked the UK first edition against the PR code (Unfortunaterly I don't have the PR code for the functionality). Probably best to check with your local VW sales team.

I was also surprised by this having recently come to the id4 from a Golf R Estate but, having experimented with manually adjusting the mirror to mimic the reverse dipping, I think it is a function of the the size of the mirror glass and the housing itself i.e. it is physically not able to move enough to give the 'down and in' view of the rear tyre.

I have also just found the same issue after buying a first addition.
Even though the user manual states its possible, the issue is you can't enable it in the Vehicle settings.
Oddly, when I started to try and set it, it initial came up with the setting to enable reverse dipping, but promptly disappeared when the ignition was turned on and never to be seen again.
There is no reason why this doesn't work, its just a software setting. You pre-program the reverse dipped position anyway so why its not able to be enable I don't understand.
I will enquire with VW for an explanation, and see were it goes.

This is something I miss after having it on my last two cars. My compromise solution was to tilt the mirrors a little lower than normal. They’re so large it doesn’t limit rear view when driving. It works for me but for people of different heights it might not have the same benefit.
