It’s been a while since my last post, but after 19 months of living with the iD4 I can now report back that I do love the car, I can’t, however say it’s been plain sailing and a pain free experience, it has not, from paint problems to door handle issues, a two year wait for delivery, which I must add didn’t arrive as was ordered and The car locked me out due to a software update, not the best introduction to EV ownership, however with all considered, I do enjoy driving my first EV. Now my biggest issue and gripe with the car that I ordered was the range, my car is a 52kWh Pure 170ps in White the range is supposed to do 220 miles which is laughable, the real figure is more like 178, I’ve never had it over that figure and with this cold snap we have all be enjoying the real world figure is more like 140 miles range. BAD, BAD, BAD
So I made the decision yesterday to upgrade to a new model and so the order has been placed at my local dealer for the latest 2025 Match Pro. 77kwh Almost 350 mile range, more than enough for my needs, no more range anxiety and what a difference from my car the latest model is amazing matrix lighting, large info screen and different color roof paint as standard, also alloy wheels this is a big deal to me as my car came with steel wheels and plastic trims, 🥳
Only 11 weeks to wait this time around, instead of 2 years as it was for my car, although there is time for all that to change 😂

I am sure you will enjoy the Match Pro, we have just swapped our 1st Edition for one. With the cold weather this weekend we could only charge to just over 300 miles and lost a bit more putting the AC on to stop the windows misting up.

The new infotainment software v4.4 is a bit like moving from one major version a Windows to another! I have just about mastered opening the boot by kicking near the sensors. Most of the irritations of the original IDshave been fixed, though I still do not understand why we do not get separate switches for front and rear windows and why they could not throw in tilting the passenger mirror when reversing as standard beats me. But the new features are welcome.

All we need now is VW to sort out the app which has been failing miserably this weekend. :(
