Thinking of ordering an id4 life 52kwh it seems that the factory fitted towball is only available on the 77 kWh model. Does anyone know if I can get a towball fitted to the car preferably through a vw dealer or after market? I need 1 to fit a bike rack to carry 2 ebikes.

I guess you shouldn't worry about it. if your car will not have a towball, I can install it by yourself or ask the diller to do so.
Last time I priced having a towbar installed I found the price had jumped. If you don't actually tow with the vehicle not cost effective, e.g. if you're installing only for a bike rack. A good alternative to new is to find a wrecker that specialises in your vehicle, most do installs also & any brackets & wiring specific to your car will be ready made.

If you’re only needing bike transport maybe a rack mount would be better. Some good roof or tailgate varieties are available these days and detachable when not needed.

I thought I'd read that only early ID4 models are suitable for towbars - I have 2021 ID4 Pro Performance 77kwh and thought I couldn't have one - does anyone know different. I also would like to carry 2 ebikes - will research non tow bar ones but looked before and not found one suitable so if anyone has found one suitable would be good to know. Thanks.
