That doesn't make sense.
I'm still being told mine is lack of semiconductor chips... Hmmm...

I reckon the wiring harness is just the straw the broke the camels back for them. Prior to it all kicking off in Ukraine, they were already scaling back the model selection of the ID.3 and continuing to face a semiconductor shortage, but they were still gearing up for the launch of the ID.5.

In the past week it’s been confirmed that the ID.5 launch has been delayed, so it might be that components were previously allotted to that model and have been reallocated to the ID.3 and ID.4 to fulfil existing orders instead. Pausing production for a few weeks have probably helped in enabling a realignment of production schedules so they can see the rest of the year out with as little disruption as possible.

Good evening,

I’m late to the Forum, but thank you all because you have kept me sane while I have waited for my ID.4.

Some background.
Ordered - 18/09/21
Build Week - 15/11/21 pushed to Week 6 2022
Built 25/02/22

Now the strange thing is that its been sitting at the port since then and still not on the way to the UK, has anyone else had a similar experience? Over the last 4 weeks I’ve become some sort of expert in tracking vessels and seen so many coming from Emden to UK it’s frustrating to still have no ETA or move to status 39-40.

It can take several weeks to get on a boat, it's just pot luck from when you car arrives at the port and the next UK bound ship full is scheduled
Also VW's updates/Comms are all over the place (in a bad way) currently.
Many people over on the id3 forums are reporting their cars going from built, or in transit to port for weeks on end (or months) then suddenly either in UK or at even dealer without any of the interim updates that you should get.
ID.4 Life 52kwh, Moonstone Grey. ordered 21/10/21, confirmed build wk 33, delivered 13/10/22.

I see I'm not the only person frustrated by the lack of delivery. Ordered a 1st edition on 30.03.21, the dealer forgot to order which meant I missed the boat. Offered a similar spec at the same price - Delivery Sept 21, Nov 21, Dec 21 April 22, November 22 now we're possibly 2023. FRUSTRATION !!!!

Congratulations- but frustrating on their prioritisation. What spec did you order? I ordered a Style on 31/08 and build might be in may. Or it might not.
Id4 Style ordered 31/08/21.
Last meaningful conversation had with the dealership - 31/08/21.

Sorry to ask this but I'm a bit puzzled why you are all waiting so long to get an id4 when there are low mileage second hand ones available now - are you tied into earlier orders despite failure to provide or is there another reason - just curious.

Price.

Currently the cheapest “Approved” used ID.4 is £37k, with 5000 miles on it and located over 250 miles away from me. The average price I’ve seen for the same model I ordered (109kW City Pure 52kWh) is around £39k. This is about a 25% increase over the price I am actually paying (after dealer contribution and HMRC grant), and you are still getting a used car at the end of the day.

Some folk might be willing to pay that premium to get a car early but I’m not one of them. I had no real intention on changing my car this early in the first place (finance deal doesn’t come to an end until October next year), but the valuation of my current car means I have a fair bit of equity, and my monthly cost (without even considering road tax, insurance and fuel costs) are going to be much lower as well, so I’m more than happy to wait.
