So thys weekend Fri-Sun we took our first 'longhaul trip' from Kent to Yorkshie to see our daughter! Oh my, what a state we seem to be in! S-N we went A1m, appalling lack of charging points unless we owned a Tesla! N-S we ended up diverting to a remote village co-op off the A1 to top up! How on earth are we going to transition to EV when on what is probably considered to be the UKs backbone transit route is so poorly provided for? I was so shocked. Does anyone have any tips for that journey or similar? On the way 'up' we decided that perhaps we were expecting too much of the A1 thus 'going back down' we thought the M1 would be more than accommodating for EVs. How wrong we were..! Pitiful provision at every 'service's' we stopped at and many queues at the few number of charge points. Wondering who needs to be lobbied to change the situation..!?

We have made regular trips from Bedford to York without a problem. There are chargers at Baldock Serices, Peterborough Services (both Ionity) East Narkham (Shell Recharge.) Elkesley both North and South at Starbucks, Blyth Services, Skelton Lakes Services M1- Ionity. York City Council are installing Hyper Hubs at park and ride but not operational at present. Also in York there are cahrgers at Holidayb Inn Express and Premier Inn. So far we have had no problem with charging on the go using Zap Map and the Navigation in the car to identify chargers.

Yes, use Zap Map if you can. Also, if you register with VW WeCharge, you can use Ionity at reduced rates.
